6 STEPS DIY : Creamy Hungarian Carbonara

I cooked this dish for our surprise Baby Shower that we organized for our college friend. I love reinventing food and customizing it according to our tastes. That’s why I came up with this Carbonara with a little bit spice of the Hungarian Sausage and a hint of sweetness from the Luncheon Ham.
Here are the 6 easy Steps in cooking

Creamy Hungarian Carbonara

  • 250g Fusilli Pasta and 250g of Bowties Pasta (children will love these shapes)
  • 3 tablespoons of Olive Oil
  • 3 Garlic cloves, chopped finely
  • 100g (5-6 pcs.) Hungarian Sausage, diagonally sliced
  • 4-5 pcs Luncheon Ham, squared slices
  • 4 eggs
  • 1 cup of grated fresh Parmesan
  • 2 tablespoon chopped parsley leaves
  • Ground Pepper & Salt
Good for 8-10 servings

Boil a pot of water and put salt in it. When the water is already boiling, add the Pasta. It takes 10-12 minutes to cook this kind of pasta with a perfect “al dente” result.

Drain the pasta and immediately pour cold water in it to prevent the pasta on sticking to each other. Set aside a half cup of starchy water from the water that’s used in boiling the pasta.

While boiling the pasta, prepare the sauce. Heat the Olive Oil in medium flame.

Sauté the Hungarian Sausage and Luncheon Ham. Add the Garlic last, so it won’t burn. Burnt Garlic can be bitter, thus it has to be prevented. ( Based on experience. haha!) Once cooked, add the pasta in the pan.

Beat the eggs and then add the Parmesan together in a bowl. Avoid lumps by stirring it well. Pour the egg cheese mixture into the pan and whisk immediately until the thick texture is attained.

Add a little bit of the starchy water. Do this until satisfied with the consistency of the sauce. Season the carbonara with black pepper and salt. Garnish with some chopped parsley to add life and color. Place the Parmesan near the Carbonara for those who wants to add more.
